And Maitlis looks like presenting on the news channel is beneath her, and they have plenty of time for complete toss rags like Chris Eakin and Simon McCoy, who are useless.

You don't get on air unless you are over 40, got a load of kids, a lisp and a tax dodging scheme.

At first thought I was thinking that is a bit harsh but after a few seconds I couldn't help but it is true... It is good to see some BBC presenters back doing a shift rather than pocketing us taxpayers money

Funny, I've always felt "ooh, how are the mighty, fallen.." when Maitlis turns up on the News Channel; always thought she held herself to be the grande dame of Newsnight. Maybe she should win Celebrity Masterchef...

Putting a well paid presenter on a 90 second update is bad enough, the fact that she doesn't do the whole 90 seconds as a second presenter is needed, just shows how they waste our money.

I agree with the above comments, I will not be surprised if Sophie goes to Sky or Al Jazeera, It would be a great loss to the Booby C if she did go.

We now have an idea of what is going on with the latest set of cuts at the News channel.

0830-0900: New business bulletin with Sally Bundock and Ben Thompson (I suspect Victoria Fritz will do Friday)
0900-0915: TBC
0915-1100: Victoria Derbyshire (also on BBC2)
1100 onwards: as now.

Technically they are breaking employment laws, making presenters redundant and then employing new ones.

Did anyone else notice the regional news on BBC1 was cut at lunchtime? (Except Scotland and Northern Ireland)

A week to go before Victoria Derbyshire starts on the News channel and BBC2.

Yes. It was supposed to be extended after the late news, but in practice it isn't

It's roughly 10 mins Mon-Thurs and 7 mins on a Friday.

For a company that's supposed to be cutting staff, there are a load of new faces popping up.

And does Victoria Derbyshire ever actually present her show? It's always Gosling or Waricka when I look.

Local news at lunchtime is back to around 12 mins, with the late to 7.5 mins.

As for the 'News' Channel, it's a joke. No proper news until 11am, then simulcasts with World at 9pm and after midnight. Might as well axe it.
