Somewhat unsurprisingly, Daybreak is failing miserably and the bosses at ITV are pondering. Despite the many tweaks of recent weeks, rumor is that there will be a huge reshuffle this time next year and possibly another new set and full re-brand. I gather that most of the 'talent' are on two year contracts that will expire then.

So, thoughts?

Matt & Ranvir - OK pairing, they do a solid job. However, ITV's core demographic don't seem to be switching on for news before 7am and the newshour has the lowest ratings of the whole show.
Aled & Lorraine - Destined to be a failure from the outset. Aled to go. The cockroach will probably survive, dunno why though.
Laura - Lucy V all over again. To stay / jump back to the auntie if she has any sense.
Kate will presumably survive any cull / nuclear holocaust as well.

A little cap of the Daybreak set from an uncommon angle:

Real life gets complicated at times, so I'm not capping much at the moment.

I have read they want Eamon Holmes back with either Lucy Watson or Ranvir as co host, but he wants wife Ruth in the role.

ITV will offer him a contract of 4m in an attempt to get him back as they believe he is the answer and will boost ratings.

Personally I believe ITV and early morning news, with added light entertainment are doomed to failure.

Kate & Lorraine will survive as they are ITV early morning institutions.

As pleasant as Lucy is, I do find her a bit dull, right from her Central news days.

Matt and Ranvir are easily better than Aled and Lorraine - in fact, not long after they took over I stopped watching after 7am. I've tried to watch a few times post 7am since, but the only time it's any good is when Helen Fospero is on. I always thought Dan and Helen were a good combo. The problem with Daybreak is those naffy competition slots. And Richard Arnold

And surely they need to use Michelle Morrison a whole lot more!!!

Eamon Holmes has signed a new five year deal with Sky quashing all rumours he would joining Daybreak.
