imgbox

My antivirus software, (Avast), keeps warning me of a malicius URL when opening images with imgbox. Is this just me or are others experiencing this aswell?

My experience of Avast is that it has the habit of throwing up false warnings for things.

Never had a problem with it myself. Only recently it's started doing it, and only with this site. Would be safe to assume it doesn't reckon it's false.

Look on Avasts forum, its full of reports of false warnings from Avast.

Look on Google, its full of reports of false warnings from Avast.

All to do with Heuristic scanning, usually your av software downloads dat files, virus definitions, a list of known dodgy software, so when your av spots it running on your pc it knows its dodgy and removes it. Heuristics scan for the stuff that isnt known and therefore isnt in your virus definitions. Trouble is, a lot of genuine software behaves the same way as dodgy stuff, so gets flagged up by heuristic scans. Ask for confirmation on their support forum and see what they say. I used to have Avast but got fed up of it always going mental, usually after a dat file update.

I have Malwarebytes' Anti-malware installed on one of my PCs and every time an image from imgbox gets displayed Malwarebytes reports a blocked website, www.tradeadexchange.com, ip address 104.197.47.161 trying to go outbound from my PC. I'm happy that I am being protected but imgbox would appear to be completel;y ridden with malware or adverts. Just thought I'd say...

It probably isn't anything dodgy, it just operates like malicious stuff in the sense it makes your browser display the ad but isn't trying to infect your pc with anything or cause any damage. Ad blockers are the best bet to keep everything out of sight.

No problems with popups, but that's an ongoing problem for me. Today lots of thumbnails wouldn't load either
