Looks like AJ Arabic has gone from Freeview - AJ is now HD only, UKTV has apparently taken over the bandwidth. AJ Arabic, being SD only, has gone...
...which puts a bit of a cramp in my capping routine...

You have to pay to get it too, shame as VTV is pretty good.

Hmm... thanks, hadn't seen that site. I have found their YouTube stream, but the quality is poor and it does more buffering than streaming!

Can't see a way to download the stream though - I can, just about, d/l the YouTube stream.

If you're just going to cap from the stream, you can screen record using Ice Cream Recorder, however it'll be useless for doing vids from as you can't change the frames per second.

Yeah, I've looked at screen recorders, but I doubt it's worth it, quality is poor anyway. Nice to see it, but it's not like I watched the channel much, I can't understand a word! I just recorded bits randomly and checked the recordings for any nice capping opportunities. Without the convenience of setting up recording schedules (I haven't checked Ice Cream, but it seems unlikely to do that) It would be unlikely I'd bother.

I use a paid for screen recorder called FRAPS, which is mainly for recording games, but can also record video. That allows you to change the fps. You'd still need to use other software to process and convert the video, which in the case of AJA, would need to be down converted to 1024x576.

I gave it a try, but I actually think the YouTube videos are better quality than Zattoo!
One from YouTube:
One from Zattoo
The YouTube caps may be adequate for posting, but recording the stream is a hassle and very hit & miss.

I think I've got FRAPS... or I had it. The full version too. Haven't used it in ages though, never installed it on this laptop.

It's worth trying different browsers with Zattoo as it's hit and miss.

The YouTube live stream has gone full 1080 HD. Unfortunately, this seems to have screwed up the software I use to cap it, and it's more hit & miss than ever. However, I have hopes this bodes well for the channel to return to Freeview, although I don't really know what that would require, if AL Jazeera would have to purchase the rights to another frequency or whatever...

Flash Video Downloader for Firefox will grab the live YouTube streams.

It used to, but now it just downloads a short clip of a few seconds, and not usually from a predictable start point!
