Kate Garraway is definitely the Friday presenter of both Daybreak and Lorraine.

The powers that be, at ITV, have probably seen how popular she is on here. :o

Wouldn't surprise me if Laura Tobin is pregnant within twelve months on Daybreak.

From the gibbons at ITV's press centre:
Broadcasting live each day from a new-look studio, Matt Barbet and Ranvir Singh will set the news agenda from 6-7am and Ranvir will also present the news bulletins throughout the programme.

Also on the Daybreak team, Showbiz Editor Richard Arnold will report on all of the biggest stories in the celebrity and entertainment world, Features Reporter Gethin Jones will cover human interest and lifestyle stories from around the UK and Kate Garraway will present Daybreak and Lorraine on Fridays.

Other Daybreak regulars, including Dr Hilary Jones and Martin Lewis, continue in their expert roles on health and finance respectively alongside new weather presenter Laura Tobin.

Running here from the Laura Tobin thread - her move is confirmed - I'm in the school which says 'Oh dear'. Much discussion of shorter days, weekends off, higher ratings... Yes, but 3 am starts; she might as well not be a proper meteorologist any more, as all Daybreak needs (wants?) is eye candy who can sound convincing in front of a now almost comically out of date weather graphic.

Everybody's missed the phrase to make the blood run like a river of ice... Showbiz Editor Richard Arnold . To paraphrase the little girl in 'Poltergeist': "He's baaack..." - probably with similar effect.

So some cynical predictions: Tobin pregnant within 12 months, agreed. Kelly back to three day weeks and six week summer holiday within six months (i.e. before next summer, assuming we have one next year..). Kelly to mention 'werkin mummmms' (as ever implicitly 'just like me' for someone on more money a year than most of them will see in life) about five times a week.

Is it just me, but isn't it bonkers in format terms (at least there was some logic in the old days) to have her do the 'main' segment then just stay on minus one?

:D Oh, I'd noticed his inclusion in the line up. I doubt he was top of ITV's list, but middle-of-the-road begats middle-of the-road. Daybreak's previous experiments with Katy Hill and Anna Williamson were considerably less offensive that this, heck even Mr Blooby reading 'celebrity gossip' from the Daily Sport would be preferrable.

Incidentally, rumour is that Lorraine was far from top of ITV's wish list.

They spent big getting names from other channels last time, this is a new show on a budget.

What ever happened to Tasmin Lucia-Khan from Daybreak? Is she still on British TV?

Not that I know of. When she left Daybreak there were allegedly presenting opportunities in America.

New look Daybreak has a new set that's remarkably similar to GMTV, but with a few coats of paint to make it look American. Laura looks nice though. Wonder how long they'll let her use the weather wall.

Haha, wow. Having now capped from this I can honestly say, in no particualr order:

1. It's obvious that the rings around the logo are 'inspired' by the BBC News graphics.
2. That sodding bell. Why.
3. Bricks. Are they broadcasting from a 70s alpine lodge?
4. Matt and Ranvir are streets ahead of Aled and Lorraine when it comes to presentation
5. ITV need to stop using emotive music on news items. That's just sensationalist bull-crap.
6. Laura's weather wall is nice - seems to be HD, even if the graphics are still cack. ITV need to splash-out on the same engine as the BBC for their weather - Weatherscape XT - granted they'll need to convince a decent graphics designer in to draw up some graphics that convey information to the viewer and avoid the need for sunglasses ( lime green - FFS!). Nice to see an isotherm map today though.

For actual watching, I shall stick to Rick and Kelly on the Paralympics Breakfast Show whilst I can, then back to Suz, Steph and co on the Beeb.

Lorraine is only good at the frivolous celebrity gossip type presenting. She seems way out of her depth with the more serious interviews that she will have to do.
