Saw this on a website earlier on and it has just been announced on Sky News that She has died from cancer aged just 63

One of, if not the best of the Dr Who companions. She was a bit of a fantasy figure when i used to watch Dr Who as young teen when Tom Baker was in it.

Very sad news. I hadn't realised she was so old (62), I'd have put her in her mid-fifties.

Heartbreaking. One of the best. And the Sarah Jane Adventures was a very clever, good format too. She will be missed.

There will be a short tribute on CBBC at 18:45 tonight, 23rd April (presumably concentrating on her Sarah Jane role).

The new Doctor Who series first episode dedication (hope they put it on the DVD, too)...

...and the final image of the CBBC tribute
